Proposed Retail Development, Petrol Filling Station and Park-and Ride Facility at Scrabo Road, Newtownards
The applicants have requested the Commission to arrange a hearing to discuss the Department’s notice of opinion to refuse this major planning application. A pre-inquiry meeting will take place on Tuesday, 10th December 2013 at the Arts Centre, Town Hall, Newtownards. The hearing is scheduled to open on Tuesday, 7th January 2014 at the same venue. George Best Belfast City Airport
The Commission has been asked by the Department of the Environment to hold a public inquiry under Article 123 of the Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1991 into a request by George Best Belfast City Airport for modifications to its planning agreement.
In view of the Department's request to the City Airport for additional information, the inquiry which was programmed to commence in November 2012 has been postponed until further notice.
Draft Northern Area Plan
The Public Examination into the draft Northern Area Plan 2016 was completed on 22nd March 2012 and the Commissioners are working on their report.

What to Expect at an Accompanied Site Visit
The Commission has prepared an information leaflet for participants at accompanied site visits. Its contents are supplementary to the Commission’s published procedures for planning appeals. The leaflet is downloadable from our Publications page and copies are available on request.
Planning Appeals - Intake and Output of Decisions
The Commission processes most appeals in the chronological order in which they were submitted and aims to deal with appeals as efficiently as possible.
