The Department for infrastructure has asked the Commission to conduct a public inquiry to consider representations made in respect of a regionally significant application for planning permission for the proposed extraction, transportation and working of sand and gravel from two areas in Lough Neagh.
The inquiry will open at 10.00am on Wednesday, 20th June 2018 in the Commission’s premises at Park House, Great Victoria Street, Belfast and will continue if necessary on the following day or days.
The inquiry will be conjoined with the hearing of appeals by six separate parties against the Departmental enforcement notice alleging the unauthorised working of minerals at Lough Neagh.
After the inquiry, the Commission will prepare a report with recommendations to the Department. The final decision on the regionally significant planning application will rest with the Department. The enforcement notice appeals will be determined by the Commission.
