If you have any comments to make about the appeals system, the work of the Commissions or this web site please let us know what you think.

The Commissions cannot change a decision once it has been issued but if you complain about our service we will investigate the issues you raise and send a full reply. We will apologise if your complaint is justified and we will improve our procedures if that is possible. The attached Complaints System page sets out more information about how to complain and how complaints are handled.

The only way a Commission decision can be reconsidered is following a successful High Court challenge by way of judicial review. If you think the Commission's decision is flawed on legal grounds you may seek leave of the Court for a judicial review application. This must be sought promptly and in any event within three months of the date of the Commission's decision. The procedure for an application for judicial review is contained in Order 53 of the Rule of Supreme Court (Northern Ireland). It would be prudent to seek legal advice if you are considering a High Court challenge.

If you feel that you have been the victim of maladministration through the action of our administrative staff and are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Parliamentary Ombudsman. Such a complaint must be raised through an MP or Member of the Assembly.

We also welcome praise when you feel that we have done a good job. Commendations are passed on to the appropriate members of the workforce.

Feedback of all types helps us to improve our service so let us know what you think by letter, telephone, fax or E-mail.
